Neuro Diverse Couple Course
Course for couples impacted ADHD
I developed a course specifically designed for couples impacted by ADHD, which is delivered through ADHD Aware. It is the first course of it’s kind and addresses the issues you face with a new approach. Providing you fresh information, quick and easy to use strategies, real life case studies and group discussions.

Areas the course covers:
- Neurodiversity introduction to the themes which impact relationships
- Communication issues
- Emotional dysregulation and its impact on the couple
- Executive function: Impairments that affect the life of a couple. Memory, task organisation, difficulty with planning, distraction, impulsivity
- Social issues: Difficulties with friendships, inappropriate behaviours, inability to read nuanced language, over socialising and intimacy issues
What to expect
The course is six sessions of group work online. The sessions are two hours long on a mid week evening and run from 7pm – 9pm.
There are ten couples on each course. Two therapists host and present the course and answer questions.
The beauty of the experience is that it is made richer by the members of the group sharing their experiences of being in neurodiverse relationships. This is often the most important part of the process as participants get relief and encouragement from each other.

Outcome of therapy
All participants report an improvement in their understanding of their partner. The tools and strategies are helpful alongside the educational presentations but the group experience is the most powerful and successful outcome.
