Talking relationships on The Girls Bathroom podcast

Talking relationships on The Girls Bathroom podcast
I recently had the pleasure of joining the brilliant hosts of The Girls Bathroom podcast for a conversation all about modern relationships.
If you’ve never listened before, the podcast has built a huge following by tackling the dating dilemmas, relationship questions and awkward situations that so many people experience but don’t always know how to talk about.
Quick Fire Round
The episode began with a quick-fire round covering some of the questions I’m asked most often in my therapy room. We explored everything from whether long-distance relationships can really work, to the signs a relationship may be breaking down, why dry spells are completely normal, how couples can reconnect after having children, and whether trust can ever be rebuilt after infidelity.
Emotional cheating
One of my favourite discussions was around emotional cheating and workplace friendships. With so much of our communication happening through messaging apps and social media, it can be difficult to know where healthy friendships end and emotional intimacy begins. We talked about why work “besties”, work wives and work husbands can sometimes create challenges, not because friendships outside a relationship are wrong, but because relationships need clear boundaries. Often, the issue isn’t the friendship itself, but whether emotional closeness is beginning to replace the connection within the relationship.
Proposal Pressure
We also discussed proposal pressure, navigating different timelines when one partner is ready for marriage before the other, and the importance of having honest conversations before resentment has a chance to build. Another listener asked about balancing work with relationships, while another explored the challenges of sexual compatibility and vaginismus. Throughout each dilemma, the focus wasn’t on finding perfect answers, but on understanding what sits beneath the problem and how couples can communicate more openly.
One of the things I enjoyed most about the conversation was how thoughtful and curious the hosts were. Rather than looking for simple “red flag” answers, they wanted to understand why people behave the way they do. As a therapist, that’s always where the most interesting conversations begin. Relationships are rarely black and white, and every dilemma is an opportunity to explore communication, attachment, boundaries and the patterns we all bring into our relationships.
If you’ve ever wondered why relationships can feel so complicated, or you’re simply curious about the conversations happening in my therapy room every day, I hope you’ll enjoy this episode. Whether you’re dating, in a long-term relationship, navigating a difficult decision or simply interested in understanding yourself and others a little better, there’s something in this conversation for everyone.
I’d love to hear which topic resonates with you most.
